Visit the unique Jade Buddha Temple where you can see 2 famous jade Buddhist statues brought from Burma. These two statues are unique in that they are crarved from white jade and managed to survive the revolution that not only destroyed the original temple they were housed in, but overthrew the Qing Dynasty.
Explore Shanghai Museum, one of the best museums in Asia. Well-known for its unique exterior design, it’s square base and round dome follows the traditional concept where land is square and heaven is round. Learn and see the many different features of Chinese history and culture as you view over 120,000 precious relics including bronze pieces, pottery, paintings and works of calligraphy.
Lunch and dinner provides an opportunity to taste the local Shanghainese cuisine.
After dinner, take in Shanghai’s beautiful nightscape as you cruise along the Huangpu river. See how Shanghai’s architectural styles contrast history with the future as you view the beautiful buildings of old on one side and the great modern skyscrapers on the other.
Enjoy the view as you gaze down from Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the world's third tallest TV Tower. From the large lower sphere of the tower, enjoy a panoramic view of the city.
After you return to the ground, stroll through the Lujiazui Economic Zone, an area specifically designated by the government to become the new financial hub of modern China.
Wander along Nanjing Road - one of the must–see places in Shanghai. Nanjing Road was built in 1851 and was lined with many famous stores making it the most bustling commerical street in Shanghai at the time. The one time British concession and international settlement, Nanjing Road has become a world famous pedestrian street with its department stores, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes.
For lunch and dinner, feast on the local dishes served up by some of Shanghai’s tastiest restaurants.
At the end of the day, head back to the hotel to prepare for the journey back to Beijing.
