This unique camp offers the integral ‘immersion’ aspects of World Link Education’s successful China programs for the past 10 years. The program integrates learning by doing the ‘Real Life’ way. Chinese Language

a. Level and Content
On the first day, a placement test is held in order to determine the students' level of Chinese. The students are divided both according to their age group (Group 1: 12 – 14, Group 2: 15 – 17) and current level of Chinese (Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced).

There are nine different language levels from total beginner to advanced. There will be a maximum of twelve students in each group to ensure individualized attention. Classes are designed specifically for each level and age group. The following skills and subjects are taught at all levels: Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing and Chinese culture. Materials are provided and are included in the program fee.

b. Our Teachers and Methodology
Classes are taught by experienced and professional native Chinese teachers holding degrees in Chinese as a foreign language. All teachers are trained in teaching Chinese to young learners. The communicative method of teaching is applied combining vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in an interactive and fun way. Topics are practical and reflect modern everyday day Chinese life and culture.

The Academy’s effective ‘real life language learning’ method of ‘learning as you speak, do, play, travel, eat and socialize’ incorporates the essential ‘learn by doing’ language method. Teaching materials are designed for young learners and suitable for the specific age group.

c. Classes
The students will receive a total of 20 Chinese lessons per week divided into four lessons per day from Monday to Friday. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes.

At the end of the program, and upon its successful completion, students will receive a certificate, a progress report and transcript.

Culture Club
‘Learn as you do’ is the focus of the interactive culture workshops. The culture club offers a fun and engaging way to learn about Chinese paper cutting, painting, cooking, calligraphy, and peking opera art. Workshops are held three times a week and are an hour and a half per session.

The teachers are professional and experienced in teaching the culture topic using both Chinese and English. Materials are all provided including Culture Information Sheets’ outlining the step by step guide. Each workshop allows students to take their work home for display and form a part of the China Camp Portfolio.

Sports Club

‘Learn as you play’ is an effective way to promote spontaneous Chinese language practice and use. A range of popular Chinese sporting activities is offered including swimming, table-tennis, wushu and basketball. Chinese and international students participate in these sporting activities together. Vocabulary and words specific to each sporting activity are taught in advance.

Tour Club

‘Learn as you go’ allows students to go and experience the many wonders that China has to offer. Every week a full day and half day excursion is organized to allow students to experience nearby Chinese attractions and cities. Fact sheets and excursion quizzes reinforce learning. Places visited vary and students may have the opportunity to:
- climb the magnificent 2000 year old Great Wall
- explore the fascinating Summer Palace
- walk the vast royal grounds of the Forbidden City
- ride in rickshaws through old Beijing’s hutongs
Excursions are led by a professional guide and students are accompanied by camp counsellors at all times.

Food Club

‘Learn as you eat’ takes students on a food experience of a lifetime. Students will taste famous Chinese cuisines and learn about Chinese cooking, ingredients and the different cuisines from the various provinces in China. Related vocabulary and phrases are taught to complement and enhance their learning experience.
